About the Wood:
After the disaster in April 1912, the Cable Ship Minia was contracted by White Star Line to recover the unfortunate victims. On board was ships carpenter, William Parker, who was known to take Titanic wreckage from the sea and fashion them into everyday useful items such as furniture, picture frames, and boxes. He made a liquor cabinet for his Chief Officer, James Adams. It stayed with the family until 1998 until it passed on to a Manitoba Museum. Inside the cabinet, a yellow pine plank believed to be part of Titanic's deck was removed and offered for individual sale in 2005.
This small wreck wood piece in the 2" plastic display was part of that plank.
It has been on public exhibit at the Ronald Reagan National Library in Simi Valley, CA and at the National Geographic Titanic Museum Exhibit in Washington DC.
