    John Borland "Jack" Thayer III
    (December 24, 1894 – September 20, 1945) was a first-class passenger on
    RMS
    Titanic
who survived after the ship struck an iceberg and sank on April 15, 1912. Aged 17 at the time, he was one of only a handful of passengers to survive jumping into the frigid sea. He later wrote and privately published his recollection of the sinking. He survived the night on board overturned collapsable B and was eventually picked up by lifeboat number 12.
While on board the rescue vessel Carpathia he gave his story of the sinking to L.D.Skidmore who made his now famous sketches of the sinking, based upon Jack's account.
Jack never could get over the sinking completely.
It haunted him, until the memory, combined with his son's death in WW2 caused him to take his own life, on September 20, 1945.
Your Jack Thayer Tribute is printed on 65lb, acid free, archival card stock.
