Mid Century Modern China - Franciscan Platinum Band Salad / Dessert PlateChartreuse Green "Willow" - by Gladding McBean of California - 1950's
This is an 8 " salad - bread - sandwich - dessert plate in the Platinum Band pattern from Franciscan.
Bringing out a plate of cookies?? This is a perfect and beautiful way to go. Small plate for tapas.. perfect.
It is in excellent used condition. I see no wear at all. The platinum band is completely intact.
Shiny fresh finish.
I have seen this pattern described as Platinum Band or Simplicity.
This is a perfect size sandwich plate,
dessert plate, salad plate or luncheon plate.
First made in 1950, the Encanto patterns enjoyed some of Franciscan's heaviest advertising,
and featured elegant lines of mid-century modern simplicity.
******Please remember, this is not the heavy earthenware Franciscan pottery
that most people are used to. This is china and has a very retro feel to it.
This pattern of china came in the most luscious colors, including a blush pink, barely there blue,
a creamy white, spruce green, and of course this stunning very soft shade of chartreuse green.
It is lighter and softer color than the pictures actually show. I have heard this called Willow Green,
but I am not positive that is an accurate color name from the original collection.
So you could mix and match or just use one shade.
