Latin Percussion and world-renowned percussionist Pedrito Martiez have teamed up to bring the Pedrito Iya Bata Deep Cut Mango bata. This signature bata features a mango shell that is resonant and beautiful. A handpicked rawhide head is responsive and produces a warm up-front tone with each strike. Top-tuning Comfort Curve II rims are easy on the hands and keep this bata in tune night after night. Reinforced LP Heart sideplates provide extra stability as well. Kiln-dried for quality
The wood used in the Pedrito Iya bata is kiln-dried. Using kiln-dried wood allows LP to control the wood's moisture content level during the manufacturing process. Wood, even after it is harvested, expands and contracts. The wood used to manufacture all fine wood instruments, including congas, must have just the right moisture content level to help prevent the instrument from cracking and breaking. Latin Percussion instruments are played by the world's most demanding players in all seasons and climates, in every region of the world, using kiln-dried wood helps the bata stand up to many different environmental and playing conditions.
Play with confidence
All LP brand batas are fitted with tuning lugs manufactured from specially heat-treated, high-carbon steel and feature precision-cut threads for smooth tuning, strength, and durability. Due to the enormous amount of stress that is required to tune a bata head, the design of the sideplate is crucial. During the tuning process, there is enormous tension pulling on the upper part of the sideplate. Because of this, LP brand sideplates are wider at the top to distribute the tension from the head and rim over a larger surface area. This provides for additional durability.
