Here is a beautiful silverplated antique sugar shaker. It was manufactured by Elkington & Company, Birmingham, England in 1939 for use by The Cunard White Star Line.
This piece stands 6.5” tall and measures 2.5” across the base. The screw on top features a ball and flat top insert that helps control the flow of sugar when the shaker is in the pouring position and it tightens to a snug fit. The base has a rolled or graduated design near the bottom rim. The bottom of the base is engraved with the following information:
    37823
    Elkington Plate
    Date Code of D = 1939
Cunard White Star in a letter C
The screw on top has an area of silver loss (chipped off) that is shaped like the letter J without the top line. There are also some small dings and dents on this piece, along with a more substantial dent near the opening (bigger than the others, but still not overwhelming). Please examine the photos for greater detail.
The flared base has a few minor dings/dents which can be seen in the photos and there is a light scratch mark that almost encircles the shaker. The bottom rim of the shaker is out of round so the piece has a minor wobble when sitting flat on the tabletop.
There is no oxidation and no rust. I gave it a quick polish with Wrights Silver Cream. This silver shaker weighs 11.1 ounces.
