Description

Not really a patch but rather an armband.
This was created for a “Special Duty” officer to wear when working “off-duty” special details in the City of
Cincinnati
.  Referred to officially as “Extension of Police Service details,” they put officers at locations - usually businesses - where they were needed but at no expense to the taxpayers.
Officers were required to wear these bands on their left arm while working.  This was in reaction to an incident and confusion when a citizen asked an officer to leave his post and respond to a minor incident. It was believed the solution was to identify detail officers in this way.
This armband was an official issue of the CPD to all officers.   It quickly became unpopular as they believed it was both ill-fitting, uncomfortable and looked bad.  It was replaced with a much smaller square patch that went under the badge and said “Detail Officer.”  Eventually, both of these devices were eliminated.
Size of the insignia itself is approximately 8” wide x 5” high.  It is made of nylon and the rear band is adjustable with a snap closure.
This short lived and unusual part of the CPD uniform would make a rare addition to your collection.  In nice condition, it is guaranteed original and authentic.
I will charge only towards packing and first class shipping and will absorb any domestic postage over that.  Ships to
U.S.
only.
Note:  This item conveys no law enforcement authority and is sold for collectible purposes only.  It is not a badge.  Please ask any questions before bidding as refunds are not offered.  Thanks for looking and good luck!
