Origins
In 1910, John J. Herold, who had formerly worked at Roseville Pottery and the Owens Pottery Company, started the Herold Pottery Company. The business specialized in oven-safe tableware.
Name Change
The company was renamed the Coors Porcelain Company in 1920. It was named after Adolph Coors, founder of the Coors brewery, who had leased a factory to Herold and was a board member of the original Herold Pottery Company.
Other Collectibles
Coors Pottery also manufactured beer mugs and matte-finish vases, which are often found online and at antique stores. Rarer Coors collectibles include milk canisters and crocks.
Identifying
For those interested in collecting Coors Pottery, the pieces can be identified through well-recognized patterns, such as Rosebud, as well as the "Coors" stamp that appears on the underside.
